Recently, while having a non-anaestheticized molar drilled “a little bit” (as the dentist put it) I suddenly stopped squirming and crying when I mentally compared it to my lumbar pain (which I bear with more courage) and realized it was nowhere near as bad. Saying goodbye also hurts worse, now that you mention it.
